Washing the dishes or cloth is pretty easy today but 820 years ago it wasn’t that easy. Women had to use the lakes or stream and gutters. But in a province like Zanjan where you have 3 cold seasons, it would be so hard to go out and wash dresses with so cold water even if the women were able to wash it they would freeze in that cold area. It would be so hard for them to wash it in public places as they do not like the men to see their arms or hair and had to cover it. the minister of Zanjan decides to build a Rakht Shooy Khaneh (dress washing-house) for women of that area. It would be more comfortable and sanitary.
To enter the washing house you need to go down of stairs. The lower level makes the place warmer. women could sit near the runnels and wash their clothes or dishes.
At the beginning of the runnel you could wash your dishes and not so dirty dresses and as dirtier, they are as farther you sit.
The water would gather and bring out of the wash-house and separated from drinking water.
If a rich woman wanted to wash his clothing there was a place for her to sit and rest when her servant is washing her clothes and doing her job.
The wash house is renovated and now is an anthropology museum and a good place to see and buy handcraft of Zanjan.
