In Safavid dynasty, the silk fabric designed by “GHalam kary” (calico) was the best gift for the king’s guest. It was used for clothes, curtain, tablecloth and even the king wore “Ghalmkar” silk and cotton cloth threaded by gold and silver yarns. Today this art is still alive and you can find cotton fabrics.

Making a “Chit” take almost a week. First, they let the cloth in a water for 5 days so the fabric gets ready to be colored. The cloth will be put in a big pot full of pomegranates skin to become in light yellow.

Then let it dry and print it by wooden template carved by a masters In different patterns from hard wooden trees like peach or from stones. Each color has unique patterns. The template is saturated with color, placed in order and tapped several times by hand. The artist will cover his hand by a piece of leather and fabric to reduce the intensity of the punch .

When all the color is printed the fabric will be washing again for several day in running water so the extra color will be gone and fixed.

Each fabric has in wonderful pattern and so useful.
