The cave of the Katale Khor is one the most amazing cave in the world. It is located 155 Km south of Zanjan and 173 Km north of Hamedan near the small town of Garmab.
it was discovered by a group of climbers in 1950. The Geological studies dated it back to the Jurassic Period about 120 million years ago.
The name of it has two part. At the west of Iran the short mountains are called “Katale”, and as the sun rises from the behind of this mountain, it is called Katale Khor which means the mountain of the sun.
The amazing cave has 7 floors and already 3 of them is discovered. Now It has 4 kilometers long. undiscovered part of it is a mystery. As it is a natural cave until 1993 only the professional cave explorer with special equipment could enter it. Later almost 2 km of the cave was prepared to be visited by the public. There are two visiting routes inside the cave, one for public and a 4 km long sports route for professionals.

10 am. to 6 pm. The local guides accompany you and you will visit it as a group of 20-30 people.
Location
From zanjan you should first go to Ghidar county, then Zarin Rood county, and You can have easy access to this cave from the side road. From Ghidar to Zarin rood it is 45 Km, and from Zarin Rood, to Garmab it is 30 Km. close to the entrance There is 2 parking and also facilities like a restaurant and shops.
