Darband

Darband is one of the old districts of Tehran and is considered as one of the old villages of Shemiran in the north west of the Sababad garden. Darband with mild weather is an attraction of Tehran. This lovely district is in 1700 meters height from the seas and is the beginning of the way towards the Alborz mountains. The old districts involve Morgh Mahale, Kenar mahale, KalaghPar and Sarband.

As this place is located in one of the best parts of the city, it has been a popular place for many people from the beginning, especially wealthy people. In Qajar era, two princes, namely AllahVerdi Mirza and Kumarth Mirza settlled here, which was the reason that it became of a great interest and Palaces like Sadabad were made in this area.

Among the historical buildings in the Darband area we can name places such as, a pool, Ab Anbars (Cistern), a Qanat, a Takye (a place for religious ceremonies) and two mosques of 200 years old which show how old the area is.

One of the most famous areas of the place is the three-meters-height statue of climbing in the Darband area which is in the middle of the Sarband square. The statue is an admiration sign for some militaries who saved the life of some mountain climbers. Besides the statue, there are a mountainous atmosphere, a beautiful river, restaurants, small shops, the temple of Ebrahim, the Darband sled and the twin waterfall.
