The traditional ceremony of obtaining rose water in Kashan date back to 2500 years ago and each year attracts ten of hundreds of tourists to Kashan. Golab (Rosewater) is a made of special rose from Rosaceus family. If you be lucky to pass through the damask rose garden in Ordibehesht (May and June) the spread smell will daze you.
Qamsar district in Kashan county is a famous city and center of the ceremony of Golab Giri. It is held every year in May and June. Because the flower has been flourished enough and ready to be cut.
Still, this ceremony is held in the traditional way. The flower is cut at early morning and all the village’s habitant brings it to the city by horse and camels, playing traditional musical instruments and traditional songs.
The next process, evaporating system, is invented by Persians. They put the fresh petals into massive copper pots and add water. They fasten the door securely by dough so the vapor has no exit.
it boils for at least 4 hours. the vapors are transferred by a tube to another little copper pot which is in cold water.so the vapor turns into drops and the final fragrant Golab is ready.
Another product is rose oil. the rose oil is exported all over the world, used as basic oil for perfumes.
Golab is used in different food, confection, deserts and even has medicational uses. the smell of Golab has a relaxing effect and use at different ceremonies and is an inseparable thing from Persian’s life.
